Welsh Springer Spaniels are quiet and steady. Although they look a lot like English Springer Spaniels, they're much less outgoing. Welsh Springers are suspicious of strangers, but they get along well with children and other animals. Welsh Springer Spaniels are sporting dogs. Sporting dogs are active and alert and require daily exercise. Because they have superior instincts in the water and woods, sporting dogs are often used for hunting. If exercised and properly trained, most sporting dogs make excellent pets. However, some of these dogs like to bark and whine a lot, so they're not suited for apartment life. Origin: Great Britain Height: 16" - 17" Weight: 38 - 45 pounds Coat: Straight and silky, with longer hair on the stomach, legs and tail. Tail is docked. Color: Redland white. Eyes are brown or hazel. Nose is dark or flesh-colored. Special Considerations: Lots of people have no idea this breed exists, so it might be tough to find a breeder with puppies available. |
