Rottweilers are confident, serious dogs that are often quiet indoors. These large dogs need to plenty exercise - lots of walking and running. Rottweilers are very protective and often aggressive with other dogs. They're usually responsive to firm training from an experienced trainer.

Rottweilers are working dogs. In general, working dogs pull sleds and carts, guard homes, and serve in the military. Because these dogs are intelligent and capable of learning almost anything, they make excellent for families. Their very size can make them difficult to control, so they must be trained by a competent professional. Most working dogs are pack dogs, so they're often aggressive with strange dogs and other pets.

Origin: Germany

Height: Males: 24" - 27"; Females: 22" - 25"
Weight: 85 to 115 pounds

Coat: Short and coarse. Brush once a week. Tail is docked; ears hang down.

Color: Black with a rust marking above the eyes, on the muzzle, throat, chest, legs, feet and below the tail. Also has narrow streak on each toe. A few white hairs are allowed on the chest. Eyes are brown; nose is black.

Special Consideration: Working breeders often produce Rottweilers that are overly aggressive. Buy from a reputable show-only breeder. This isn't the best breed for a beginning breeder.
