The Miniature Schnauzer is a playful, smart and somewhat stubborn dog breed that is always a lot of fun. Their personalities are a little bit terrier and a little bit guard dog rolled into one. With such traits the Mini Schnauzer is easily excitable, territorial and can be dominant in nature, but love to be part of the family.

Their hard and wiry coats needs periodic combing through out the month and serious clipping/shaping four times a year. With a lot of spunk and the need for play time, the mini Schanuzer loves lots of toys and lots of walks. Part of the Terrier Group, the mini Schnauzer can reach up to 15 pounds and 14 inches in height. Fairly adaptable, this dog can make a nice pet for an apartment dweller or a family with a home.

Origin: Germany

Height: Males: 12" - 14"

Weight: 13 to 15 pounds

Coat: Short and wiry with bushy eyebrows and a beard.

Color: Usually pepper and salt. More rare are solid black or black-and-silver. A white spot is allowed on the chest. Eyes are dark and nose is black.

Special Consideration: Miniature Schnauzer are popular, so there are lots of them. If you buy a puppy that's been poorly bred, it might be sickly or nasty. Buy only from a highly reputable breeder.
